A way station on Highway 60 between Quartzsite and Hope, Brenda was a popular tourist attraction in the late 40’s, 50’s and 60’s, many stopping for water and to see “the zoo”!

Grover and Anna Spitznagel homestead this area in 1928, had a set of twins, Bruce and Brenda. The town was named after this little girl. The black, rock building, today a restaurant, was built by Grover in 1931, and 1932.

Ramsey Mine, south of Brenda was noted for its gold and silver deposits. Brenda also served as a stage stop. Today Brenda is a Mecca for winter RV travelers.
