No one knows for sure why Victor Satterdahl came here in the late 1890’s, and decided to stay, opening a store and naming the town Satterdahlburg.
The town’s name was later changed to Vicksburg and a post office was established on November 16, 1906.
The area had many active gold mines, the most famous being the Glory Hole. At its peak, it had a population of 180. Today, Vicksburg is a quaint, desert town, surrounded by ranching, farming and light industry. |
